Coming off another hard week the Cross Country teams of Pomona headed to Littleton to compete at the Dave Sanders Invitational. Not boasting their top lineups to the teams would fair well on probably the hardest course they have seen all season. A course that they will return to in three weeks for the JeffCo League Championships.
The girls were led by Mary Mansfield and a pack of Panthers. Mary placed 159th in a time of 24:12, followed closely by Rylie Dix (172nd, 24:51), Allyssa Mansfield (174th, 24:55), and Ashley Basset (175th, 24:59). Rounding out the scoring was Amanda Gurule (193rd, 26:21). The girls would place 24th as a team.
The boys followed their Senior Malachi Blaszkowski who placed 73rd in 18:28. Completing the scoring for the boys would be Cody Ohlson (140th, 19:31), Max Ramos (155th, 19:50), Cristian Buckner (171st, 20:18), and Sal Vialpando (209th, 21:28). The boys would place 22nd as a team.
Both teams are looking to get healthy and will start dropping mileage in the next two weeks to get ready for the Championship Season. Coach Swartz has been reminding the team that this is the point of the season that we need to work on one thing at a time and continue to keep our heads up. The races we want to run fast at are coming. The team is back in Thornton on Friday the 30th for the Thornton Invite as a last tune up before “meets that matter” start to show up.
